Dr. Lanier Shuler

The students, faculty and staff of Dorchester Academy send our sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Lanier Shuler who passed away on Wednesday, February 17th. Dr. Shuler loved Dorchester Academy and was an Ex-Officio Board Member. Our gym, Shuler Gym, was named in honor of Dr. Shuler.The family will be at Bryant Funeral Home Thursday, February 18th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 pm. at the St. George United Methodist Church. Members of the Student Government Association will be representing Dorchester Academy at the service. Dr. Shuler's family has requested that memorials be sent to Dorchester Academy's Shuler Gym. Our flag will be flown at half staff today and tomorrow in memory of Dr. Shuler. He will be greatly missed.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Huff

Special "Thanks" go to Elizabeth Huff who represented Dorchester Academy at the State Spelling Bee Wednesday, February 17th at Williamsburg Academy in Kingstree, S.C.
Elizabeth is in Gina Sawicki's 3rd grade. We are so proud of her accomplishments!

World Grits Festival Pageant

The deadline for entry in World Grits Festival Pageant is Saturday, February 27th.
You can pick up entry forms in DA office.

Snowman Contest

The Journalism class is having a contest for the best snowman. The entries will be posted on the Maroon & Gold website and voted on by its visitors. The winners will receive prizes ! But don't just send us your snowman pictures. We want pictures of students playing in the snow, making snow angels, sledding, etc. We will use these in our upcoming edition of the Maroon & Gold.

Da Booster Club Big Bucks Steak Supper & PTO Auction

In the DA office we have tickets for sale for the DA Booster Club Big Bucks Steak Supper & PTO Auction. The Steak Supper & Auction will be February 12, 2010 at 6:30 pm at the Harleyville Community Center.
PTO has some absolutely wonderful items that have been made for the auction. You don't want to miss out on this opportunity to support your school and purchase a piece of your child's school memories.
