Bring A Friend Day Monday, January 20th

Students in grades K4 - 12 are encouraged to Bring A Friend to school for the day.  Invited friends must be potential students whose parents may be interested in having them attend DA next year - they do not have to be in your grade to be invited.  We will have a guided tour for parents and students with information about our academics,  sports, clubs, college courses, etc.
Incentives:

• Students: Each student that brings a friend will have their name entered into a drawing for an Apple ipad mini !!!
• Teachers: The homeroom teacher whose students bring the most friends will receive a $50 Gift Certificate !!
• Parents:  If your child refers a friend who attends DA in the 2014 - 2015 school year, a referral fee will be deducted from next year's tuition.

Guests must be registered with the office to attend.

Regional Spelling Bee

The Regional Spelling Bee will be held on January 16, 2014 at the Oaks Christian School in Summerville.  Dress will be khakis & dress shirt for boys and dresses/skirts for girls. Practice will be on Thursday, January 9th until 3:00 and Monday, January 13th until 3:00.

Dorchester Academy Will Be Open Tuesday, January 7th at 8:00 AM

Dorchester Academy Blood Drive In Honor Of Cameron Bates Berry

Dorchester Academy will host a Blood Drive in honor of Cameron Bates Berry on Wednesday, January 15th from 2pm to 7pm in the school cafeteria. Students 16 yrs. and older can donate blood with a parent's consent. December 18th Students dismiss at 11:45.  Office closes at 3:30.
December 19th Students dismiss at 11:45.  Office closes at 12:00.
December 20th Students dismiss at 11:45.  Office closes at 12:30.
January 6th Teacher workday and student exam make-up day.  Office open 7:30 to 3:00.
January 7th Students return.

Congratulations to our Varsity Boy's and Varsity Girl's Basketball Teams !

Congratulations to our Varsity Boy's Basketball Team for winning the Thomas Heyward Coca Cola Classic Basketball Tournament !!! Our Varsity Girl's Team was the Runners -Up.

We also want to congratulate Julianna McAlhany, Stokes Brownlee, and Hunter Mizzell for being named to the All -Tournament Team and to Vance Collier for being named MVP of the Tournament !!  We are so proud of you !!

Keep up the good work !!! Our Varsity Boys are still undefeated with a record of 7 - 0.

B-Team Baseball / Softball Sign-Up

Mrs. Penny is asking all students interested in playing B-Team Baseball or B-Team Softball to please sign up by her office this week.  Eligible grades are 5th - 8th.
