JV and Varsity Cheerleading Camp 2013

The Dorchester Academy Varsity and JV Cheerleading Squads participated in a Universal Cheerleading Association Home Camp during the week of June 3-5.  Counselors from UCA came in each day during the hours of 9-4 and taught new cheers and dances to the girls.  At 4:00 p.m., the JV girls left and the Varsity Squad remained to participate in team building and bonding activities led by Sponsor, Penny Fender.  We have never held this type of camp before.  Some comments from the girls about this camp experience were:

"I loved the boot camp part and the bonding time with the other cheerleaders."

"I liked stunting and staying the night in the gym."

"This camp was great, don't change anything about it for next year."

For the most part, all the girls enjoyed this experience other than the lack of sleep and the cold showers.  I believe this gave the girls the opportunity to really get to know each other and to work as a team with the extra activities planned --- so we are asking that all of our fans ---be prepared to expect the unexpected!!!

DA Flags At Half Mast In Memory Of Cecil Jordan

The Dorchester Academy flags are being flown at half mast in memory of Mr. Cecil Jordan.
 Mr. Jordan, a former Board member, will be sadly missed.  Visitation is Friday at 4:00 at the Jordan home, 308 Quarker St. and the memorial service will be at Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday at 11:00.

Tayler Barcomb's Jersey Retired !

A BIG Shout Out goes to Tayler Barcomb!!!!!!!!!!  Congratulations on having your # 11 Softball Jersey retired !!!!!!!!  May it be an inspiration to all student athletes that walk the halls of Dorchester Academy to do their best on and off the field !!!!  You have made us proud !!!!!

Athletic Physicals In The Office And Online.

Athletic Physicals are in the office and online.  All athletes playing football, volleyball and or cheerleading must have their physicals turned in on or before July 26th.  All other athletes must have their physical turned in on or before August 29th.

Congratulations to Tayler Barcomb and Stokes Brownlee for being named to the South All-Star Team for softball and baseball.  They will play at Orangeburg Prep on Saturday, May 18th at 1:00.
